How it is done

A drilling string is launched into the ground. It has a locating umbrella that allows the operator to track the depth and angle of the blade moving through the ground. In this way it moves strictly in the intended direction.

Where the soil from the borehole goes
The drill is fed with a special solution that performs a number of functions. Take a look at them:

It erodes the soil in the borehole, helping to drain it;
It strengthens the channel edges during HDD penetration;
It reduces the friction force during drilling by cooling the vane (the tip that penetrates the ground).

How the HDD process is completed
After that, a tip is engaged on the blade of the bulk drill, which expands the hole to the desired size – the process is performed while the drill is being pulled back in. The channel itself is made 25-50% larger than the pipe to be installed. Along with this, a solution is fed into the well, enveloping and strengthening the edges of the “shaft”.
